Week of 10/22/23 Progress!

Hello! Welcome back to the Swampy Seed Farm! We have been making great progress on our farm and reaping a great harvest. This week was monumental as we started getting corn, peppers, strawberries, basil, cucumbers, sunflowers, green onions, and zinnias. Many of our plants are blooming or on the way to blooming. Below we have attached several photos with explanations. Enjoy!

Documented here are our first strawberries! We have had a tough time with our strawberries as at first they were not taking to the soil we transplanted them in. We had to continually monitor them but now they are flourishing and producing. We are so excited to taste these strawberries once they are ripe.
Here is a photo of our corn! It is still small and needs more time to grow but the harvest is right around the corner. Just in time for Thanksgiving! Our corn initially struggled with pests and insect damage but it is now growing rapidly. The tiny ears of corn a just adorable and will be delicious.
Documented here is our first pepper. We have not seen these peppers produce yet so this was a huge deal. They have been progressing slowly but surely and now we are close to enjoying them. These here are green bell peppers. We have also planted jalapeños but these have not bloomed yet.
Pictured here are our carrots. We thinned them last week and we have seen enormous growth. They have almost doubled in size since thinning. It is now time to thin again and watch them grow. We can't wait to see these once they are ready.
Last week we pulled all of our sun hemp up and laid it down to act as green manure. We then planted kale, lettuce, and onions in this bed. The sun hemp has a lot of nitrogen stored in it and will greatly benefit our plants. These lettuces are still small but they are growing strongly. Hopefully, we can tase these lettuces before the break.

Thank you for following along with the Swampy Seed Farm! See you in two weeks!!
